It takes a good 15 hours to recover from Oktoberfest.

Wow. Yesterday was Oktoberfest. Holy man, what a day.

It started out great. We were up early (game day!) and showered. Hopped on the S Bahn (subway) and were doing well. We knew we were headed in the right direction—there was lederhosen everywhere. The only thing we needed was cash. Saw a bank right on the way...this was great. Right on schedule. Until neither of our cards worked. No worries...there was no VISA sign on this ATM. We´ll just go to another. Nope...still not working. Another? Another? Still not working. But, we thought, "Hey, we're here. Let's have a beer and think about what to do."

We went to the #1 recommended hall, Augustiner. It was about 10:30 am and it was already filling up. Knowing we had enough cash for at least a couple beers, we sat down next to some German folk and ordered 2. After we were about half way done with our liters, the hall was really filling up. It was getting hard to see any empty seats. So we thought, let's just try our cards one more time. We didn't want to lose our seats if we didn't have to. Brandon went out on the grounds in search of an ATM that would work. I waited and waited...when he finally got back, I mouthed to him across the hall "Yes?" and he had a sad face; shook his head no. Just as he got to our table, he grinned from ear to ear!!! We had cash! Thank the beer gods, we had cash!!

The rest of the time was so much fun...toasting our new-found German friends every few minutes and singing to the folk songs. We had reached our limit by 5 pm. I think Brandon had 5 steins (that's 5 liters, people) and Jenn had 4. Whoa.

We made it home safely and didn't lose anything or each other, but needless to say, it was a rough night, but totally worth it.

This sounds so familiar! When I was there, my friends and I had a great time w/ the locals and the steins! We had to go get on the train to Venice that night and made it there safely! The only problem was we passed out and completely missed Venice! Oops! Worth it, too!!

Oh how I wish I was drunk in Germany so I didn't have to listen to that moronic, annoying Elizabeth Hasselback! You are so lucky!
